John C. Lochel of Horsham passed away Saturday February 17, 2018 at Doylestown Hospital. He was 67 years old. John was born in Philadelphia, John was the son of the late Conrad and Emma Lochel. John is survived by his devoted and loving wife Jean (Nee Ross) Lochel.
John was a graduate of Central Bucks West High School Class of 1968. He was responsible for putting the C.B. West “rock” where it is today. The tradition of decorating the rock has continued over the years. C.B. East and C.B. South have also placed a rock on the school grounds to follow the tradition.
In honor of his late father Conrad, and his Uncles Harry, Chris and Charles Lochel, John opened and operated the 2nd generation of Lochel’s Bakery originally in Levittown, PA. then the bakery relocated to its current location in Hatboro after a fire in 1995.
The Bakery flourished and is continued to be operated by his sons, James and Rob along with his wife Kathleen Lochel, the 3rd generation of baking. John had continued the family name by opening Lochel’s Family Restaurant across the street from the Bakery.
John was a member of the W.K. Bray Masonic Lodge #410 in Hatboro. He loved playing the organ in his free time, dogs and cars. He loved his family, his friends and his customers. He will be greatly missed.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his sons James (wife Cindy) and Robert (wife Kathleen). Grandfather of Nicholas, Madison and Vincent Lochel. He is also survived by his sister Carol Harding, his nieces and nephew, close cousin Fred Lochel along with many other cousins.
John’s Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday February 26, 2018, the at Shelly Funeral Home,1460 Easton Road, Warrington. The family will receive friends from 10:00am until the time of service at the Funeral Home.
