Lawrence J. Hearn, 88, of Warrington, beloved husband, brother, father and grandfather, passed away on June 11, 2019. He was the eldest son of the late Richard and Marie Hearn and grew up in Philadelphia, graduating from North Catholic in 1948. His first job was delivering groceries for the corner store. As a young teen, he was one of hundreds of youths who worked at the Flanders Hotel in Ocean City, NJ. He lived in a dormitory through the summer, bringing home his earnings to his parents at the season’s end. On nights and weekends, he and his friends loved to dance at local school dances.
Mary (Flynn) Hearn was the love of his life; they enjoyed 62 years together, raising five children in Cheltenham: Jennifer Lepore, Ellen (Jeffrey) Lott, Constance Hearn, Laura (David) Barnett and Peter (Chinatsu) Hearn. He had eight grandchildren: A.J. Lepore, Griff Lott, Jenni Barnett, Melissa Roses Laughlin, Steve Barnett, Becky Barnett, Max Hearn, and Oliver Lawrence Hearn.

He was predeceased by his sisters Mary (Richard) Zinn, Gertrude (James) Campbell, Dolores (Edward) Green, and Patricia (James) Jonas. His surviving siblings include Catherine (Donald) McErlane, Richard (Florence) Hearn, James (Mary) Hearn, and Margaret (Joseph) Kelly. His beloved friends and in-laws, Tony and Nancy Day, predeceased him. His lifelong friend Joe Weitzman and his wife Ginnie were treasured companions and in-laws.
Larry studied at Temple University. He began his career at Pennsylvania American Water Company and retired after many years as Customer Service Manager for Proctor & Schwartz in Philadelphia. He was a problem-solver, much-respected by his peers.

Larry and Mary enjoyed their retirement years traveling, birdwatching and dancing with friends, the Dixie Derby Dancers. He loved to dance, and his whistling provided a constant soundtrack to his life. While living in Cheltenham, he was active in the community, helping to organize community parades and other events. He shared his joy of country drives with his family.

The family will receive friends at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 856 Euclid Avenue, Warrington, PA on Thursday, June 13, at 10 a.m., until the time of Mass at 11:00 a.m., followed by internment in St. John Neamann Cemetery.
